Film Opening Progress Feedback

Good Points;
  1. The crosscuts between the delivery man getting ready and the victim in the house was very effective and worked well
  2. The Production company name was unique
  3. The film overall was very good, enigma made class want to watch rest.
Bad Points;
  1. The flash between sections of film is good but gets quite repetitive after a while
  2. the news report and non-diegetic music should overlap a bit
  3. Film of delivery guy on moped shows Tesco, ruins the effect of a secretive murder
With this feedback, we will make changes to the sound and overlap the news reports the the music. we will also consider changing the number of times we use the flash

Filming Update 3

We filmed the main biking scene today, we strapped the camera to the moped with duct tape, we tested the security of the camera and the rig proved stable. I was sent out on my bike to ride around town. There were some issues, for example; the conditions of the roads in Market Rasen are pretty poor so there was a lot of shaking when we reviewed the footage, another problem was that the tripod became unstable after a while which made filming hard.

We have learn that proper measures should be taking into account when filming on bikes e.g. condition of road, stableness of camera and lighting

Filming Update 2

Today, we filmed some corrections in footage, and the last scene where the bike pulls up. We took the camera of the tripod and held it very low so we could catch the wheel pulling up. we took care to make the camera very stable. We were very cautious as we where filming on a road. The lighting was very poor but the presence of street lights aided it.

In the future, we are going to plan and decide what road we would be filming on and maybe warn residence that we are filming and ask them not to drive up and down the road

Editing Update 1

Editing Update 1

We did the editing for the first section of our film today, we found royalty-free music that was acceptable and suited the genre for our film opening. We also make our production logo 'Leaky Pipe Production' on Sony Movie Studio. We still have 2 more sections to film that will be filmed on Wednesday. We have learnt that the simple logos can be the most effective.

Mise-en-scene

Filming Update 1

Filming Update 1
Day 1 of Filming was on Saturday, we found a location in Market Rasen that had a garage and a large drive. We manages to film me on my bike. The lighting was poor but that is what we wanted to achieve the desired effect. We are planning to film the last 2 parts on Wednesday.
I was not able to look over the footage but am assured by the rest of my group

Target Audience Members Profile

Target Audience Member Profile
We have chosen a member of our target audience and are going to profile them to see what they like regarding music, magazines and films and there views on our chosen theme.

We interviewed a Male, ages 59 and works as a caretaker for a local primary school. His hobbies are football and gardening, His class status is C1/C2. We asked him questions on what he favours in music films, books etc to get a better of our target audiences psychographics.

Music -  Likes 60s music such as Beatles. enjoys well known artists such as Eric Clapton and Paul McCartney.  He dislikes new popular music like '1D'.

Films - mainly comedy, but also likes action. Likes films with interesting plot that is full of enigma, films such as 'Now You See Me', 'Star Wars', 'Indiana Jones', 'Carry On...' and 'Norman Wisdom. Dislikes romantic films due to lack of action or comedy. Feels Horror films are no realistic and generally doesn't enjoy watching them.

TV - Enjoys Courtroom drama because of the enigma used in the storyline. also enjoys comedy shows like 'Harry Hill's TV Burp' because of the intense humour throughout. Dislikes Soaps that have an unbelievable storyline. Likes factual TV such as documentary, News programs and sport programs because of the non-made up, realistic content.

Media - Enjoys news websites and football websites because of the informative purpose. likes to read daily news paper and sport section. dislikes gossip magazines because of the exaggerated news features.

Attitude to our film opening genre - enjoys action films if the storyline is thick and is full of enigma to keep him interested. enjoys the element of comedy integrated into it at appropriate times

After collecting this information, we have concluded that our film opening needs to include; classic memorable music that will set the scene mentally, lots of enigma to involve the audience and make them think, the element of truth about the storyline (e.g.  events that could or have happened) and that are funny at appropriate times.

Marketing our production - we would market our production in news papers and on well-known websites such as news sites. this should appeal to our target audience as they presumably watch and read the news. We could also market our production on sites such as YouTube and Vimeo, this would appeal to a younger audience and widen our target market but we will mainly focus on appealing to our primary demographic.

Shooting Schedule

BBFC

The British Board of Film Classification is an independent, non-governmental body which has classified cinema films since it was set up in 1912 and videos/ DVDs since the Video Recordings Act was passed in 1984.

The BBFC must take in to account weather the film they are reviewing for example. They need to pay close attention Context and tone of the film. Context means how the different elements are interpreted for example violence it could be seen at funny say in the Simpsons with Homer and Bart but in a more mature film it can be seen as horrific and unnerving.

Our film will be given a 15 certificate because it will contain strong violence and brief scenes of horror and threat. I feel this is appropriate because it allows us to target our film at a larger audience of under35’s.

Job Roles

Job Roles

Producer

Producers are a key part in the filming industry. They oversee filming projects and are responsible for different elements of a shoot e.g. finance, finding material for the script, hiring actors and crew. They liaise with all members of the crew from actors to directors.

We have chosen Callum Bibby as our producer because of his major input into the storyboard and initial idea. He is also one of the main actors so he would have insight into what would look good on camera.

Director

Directors are responsible for the movie its self, they are responsible for the vision of the movie and has the job of describing that vision to the crew such as cameramen, actors, lighting and set designer. They work closely with the prod cuter when casting and choosing the actors.

We have chosen Matthew Wheldon as our director because he work with Callum when designing the storyboard and inputted a lot when we where filming.

Camera

The camera operator is the person who has to take instruction from the director, they have to work in tandem with the director without mistake. They have be skilful to recreate the directors ideas with a camera.

We chose Harrison Cattell as our camera operator because he is confident with his skill when using a camera work well with people.

Editor

The editor has the job of spending long hour on a computer trying to put the director instructions and idea into a motion picture. They have the responsible of keeping the film understandable and make it presentable.

We chose Shane Chamberlain as our editor because he has the nesaccery skill and understanding to use movie editing software correctly.

Lighting and Sound

The light and sound crew has the job of getting the light levels and sound levels to the director wish. They have to be flexible and have an understanding on lighting and sound equipment.

We decided that all of us should have this role because it allows us to all pitch in idea and make it a better film opening.
