The British Board of Film Classification is an independent,
non-governmental body which has classified cinema films since it was set up in
1912 and videos/ DVDs since the Video Recordings Act was passed in 1984.
The BBFC must take in to account weather the
film they are reviewing for example. They need to pay close attention Context
and tone of the film. Context means how the different elements are interpreted
for example violence it could be seen at funny say in the Simpsons with Homer
and Bart but in a more mature film it can be seen as horrific and unnerving.
Our film will be given a 15 certificate because it will
contain strong violence and brief scenes of horror and threat. I feel this is
appropriate because it allows us to target our film at a larger audience of
under35’s.
